Some of my best friends are graduating this week (it’s sad that they have to leave Huddersfield). It must be a very great moment for them. I hope they will remember this day for the rest of their lives as well as being proud for choosing marketing.
I could not find the best day to experiment with Snapchat geofilters, so I decided to purchase one.
Believe it or not, Snapchat is still popular today, adding new features and constantly evolving. Geofilters are location based overlays that users can apply to their Snaps. Most people familiar with Snapchat would agree that geofilters add interactivity to the platform.
With audience come marketers who want to use Snapchat for their benefits. Snapchat geofilters can be useful for a lot of people. Anyone who seeks to enhance the experience of their event or brand can take advantage of the feature. It is perfect for birthday celebrations, weddings, stag parties or any other occasion with a particular location. Furthermore, Geofilters are incredibly cheap at the moment. You can submit brand logos or trademarks but make sure to read Snapchat guidelines as web links and call to actions are not allowed.
Snapchat offers a pack of standard designs you could use for an event. Moreover, you can design a Geofilter yourself or order one on fiverr that will cost you no more than £4 (an equivalent of $5).
I created a step by step guideline on how to submit a Geofilter. Do not worry it will not take longer than 15 minutes.
I assume you have a design of the Geofilter. Follow the link to start uploading your Geofilter. Upload an image into the editor.
At this stage, you can preview and scale an image
Choosing dates and times is an important part of the submission. Make sure that you choose the right time. For some reason when I was submitting my image, Snapchat changed the time it will be live, so I had to alter it once receiving an email confirming submission.
Choosing area for your Geofilter is also important. Your audience will be able to access it within the area you get to choose. Snapchat allows your to draw a fence using Google Maps. Bare in mind that Geofence must be between 20,000 and 5,000,000 square feet.
Check details of order. As mentioned above I had to edit actual time of the Geofilter once it was submitted. You can make edits until the Geofilter gets verified.
As the result, I paid £6.40 for three hours of the Geofilter being available across over 830,000 Square Feet covering a large area of The Huddersfield University.
